Using Edges for a Light Rim Effect in LightWave3D
Tutorial by D.W. Burman

LightWave 3D's edges are very versatile when using the node editor. In this example I show how to set the color and width to simulate a painted highlight on a cartoon building. I also show using a gradient to 'turn off' edges on the more vertical surfaces to better match the reference art. I plugged this into the taper, but I could've also plugged it into opacity instead.

If you noticed I'm using an older version of LightWave, it's because I recorded this on my laptop which I use for audio recording and hadn't bothered installing the latest version of LightWave on it yet.
