7/14/06 LightWave 9 is out.
Congratulations to Newtek for a long and successful development cycle! Newtek has now released us from "nondisclosure silence" and we can finally discuss LightWave 9 and how it affects our tools. LW 9's SDK refinements have very little impact on existing LW plugins, so nearly all LW 8 tools will work in LW 9. All of our plugins, FPrime, Sasquatch, G2, Polk, and Taft, work in LightWave 9. There is no use or need for new LightWave 9 specific versions.
One of LW 9's new features is the Node Editor texturing system. Newtek has a design for a possible future extension to LightWave's SDK to allow FPrime to preview and render Node effects, but that system is not currently in LW 9.
Here at Worley Labs, we are working steadily: we've never been more busy! As we have in the past, we don't discuss projects until their release is imminent, but we're quite pleased with progress. Thanks for the stream of constant email inquires though!
And again, congratulations to all of the team at Newtek for shipping LightWave 9.
