PSPlant, un nuovo tool per LightWave 3D e PresetCentral, PresetCentral.com.
PresetCentral sta sviluppando un nuovo tool che si chiama PSPlant, è in via di sviluppo e sarà disponibile a fine settembre 2006. Fino ad allora verranno date delle brevi ed incomplete descrizioni di ciò che fa, senza però svelare completamente cosa esattamente sia PSPlant, una specie di indovinello con indizi. Ad oggi, dopo il primo annuncio, in cui è stata resa nota l'intenzione, la data della release ed il nome del tool (in solo 2 righe e l'immagine del logo), siamo arrivati al decimo indizio, PSPlant fact no. 9.

Vediamo cosa si evince dai primi indizi:
  • Nuovo tool che si chiama plant, PSPlant, ovvero preset plan, ha a che fre con i preset.
  • Parla direttmente con PresetCentral nella sua lingua per fare la sua magia. Quindi sarà necessaria una connessione internet. La magia, abra cadabra ed ecco il preset ... ^^
  • PSPlant permetterà di modificare i propri preset senza LightWave 3D, si può cambiare nome, descizione, commenti ed anche il thumbnail. Quindi è standalone ed interviene nelle parti descittive di un preset già creato.
  • PSPlant permetterà di prendere un preset da PresetCentral ed utilizzarlo direttamente in LightWave 3D con un singolo click. Quindi è proprio interattivo e fa dialogare LightWave 3D direttamente con PrestCentral, un po' come una cartella esterna, una vera e propria libreria, da cui copiare i presets.
  • Permetterà il file sharing con l'opzione di inserire tags personalizzati, testi personalizzati e/o immagini da sovraimporre sui thumbs, per personalizzare i propri presets distinguendoli dagli altri. Meglio sapere chi è l'autore, un po' di garanzie non guastano mai.
  • A conferma dell'interattività con PrestCentral, si utilizzerà lo stesso account con cui si è registrati sul sito anche per PSPlant. Beh, se PSPlant dialoga con PresetCentral non poteva che essere così. ^^
  • Lo sharing sarà individuale o associativo. Interessante.
  • PSPlant saprà dove collocare i presets scaricati, permettendo l'uso immediato senza doversi spazientire a riordinarli per utilizzarli in LW. Sempre meglio!
  • Sarà possibile fare delle sottoscrizioni perché PSPlant scarichi automaticamente i presets di specifici utenti o di specifiche serie di presets a cui si è iscritti. Quindi aggiornamenti in realtime. ^^
  • PSPlant avrà un API basata su SOAP XML che permetterà agli sviluppatori di integrare i loro plugin con PSPlant-PresetCentral. Ad esempio, potrà essere possibile scaricare i presets basandosi su di una ricerca direttamente su Dynamite o IFW. Quindi, visto che si indica un protocollo SOAP, si tratta di un server ad oggetti che per sua natura è per il service, quindi non documenti ma appunto oggetti, i presets; trattandosi di XML sarà molto facile essere aggiornati e compiere delle ricerche specifiche.
Sembrerebbe dunque che si tratti di un dowload manager integrato con LightWave 3D, con delle funzioni di editing e configurabile da ciascuno per le proprie personali esigenze. Per ora non possiamo che aspettare altri indizi e la release di PSPLant per la fine settembre.

You can tag them by entering some pre-defined text in the comments field or/and add an image tag to the thumbnail.

E.g. subscribe to DigiFreak’s explosion series of HyperVoxels presets and PSPlant will make sure you have the latest version ready to use in Lightwave3D. Cool huh?

PSPlant will have a SOAP XML API available to plugin developers to integrate in their own plugins. Just imagine being able to download presets based on a search from within Dynamite or IFW!
