Model a Rock in Lightwave 3D Modeler and Layout
by Jeremy Park
A simple way to create a rock in Lightwave 3D (or pretty much any other 3D software).Involves getting a nice rock texture, taking it into Photoshop, tiling it and creating a spherical map from it.
That same image is then taken into Lightwave Modeler and spherically wrapped around a tessellated sphere. Using the drag tools (or LW brush) the sphere is re-shaped to look like a rock.
Finally a normal map is created from the same spherical image.
